Tips on getting rid of warts
Getting rid of warts is easy to do, but sometimes it can take weeks or months. Warts are essentially a virus that gets caught in your skin and causes a bump. Warts can thrive easily in the skin because blood vessels offer a constant supply of nutrients to them.
There are several different methods you can use for getting rid of warts, although the method you’ll want to use will vary depending on where your warts are located. The severity and duration of the warts will also be a factor in which treatment you will need to use. In some cases, your doctor may recommend a combination of several of these methods for getting rid of warts.
Often the first line of treatment for warts is an over-the-counter medication. Most of these medications are basically an acid that will burn the warts right off your skin. Don’t be concerned though because the acid is very gentle and will not hurt when you put it on the wart. You’ll usually want to keep the area covered however, so the medication doesn’t get onto the healthy part of your skin.
You could use a regular bandage to cover the wart, or you might want to try duct tape. Duct tape has actually been shown to have some properties that help with getting rid of warts. It sounds pretty strange, but it’s true. Some doctors’ offices even recommend duct tape to help with wart removal.
You will also find it helpful to soak the affected area in hot water at least once a day. Make sure you soak the area long enough so the water makes the skin very soft. Then you can use an emery board to rub the wart right off. You’ll only be able to rub a little bit of the wart each day because the skin will get quite irritated. Just rub the area until it gets too uncomfortable to rub anymore. Make sure you throw away the emery board after each use because the virus will stay alive on the emery board for a short time after. You should also wash your hands with soap and water to finish getting rid of the virus after you used the emery board.
Other methods for getting rid of warts include fresh garlic. Try rubbing the wart with fresh garlic if you don’t want to try any of the over-the-counter medications. This is a perfect method for those whose skin doesn’t respond well to harsh chemicals. Another thing you might try instead of garlic is vinegar. Just soak a cotton ball in vinegar and tape it right to your wart.
Two other items that work well in wart removal are banana peels and lemon peels. Both are naturally acidic, and the oils will fight back against the virus that created the wart.
Getting rid of warts can be a very painstaking process, but you’re sure to find a way to get rid of them because there are many different methods for you to try.
